new Diagnosis?
Hi, my name is Audrey ive been on here for a little of time but ive never posted on this thread before.
Well my therapist recently told me by her clinical observation, she thinks i have DID. She dropped it on me, which i never would of thought would be a diagnosis for me
yeah i know that sounds kinda weird, but ive seen psychiatrists since i was 5 .and this has never came up.
Anyway, she is going to talk to my team of psychiatrists and social worker, and all that jazz and basically go from there. I'm scared because I've had a lot of mixed-matched diagnoses floped here and there because of all my institution admissions. so i go through a lot of doctors
but I've been in this mental institution for almost 3 or 4 years and this is just coming up.
im not invited to the meeting but im scared of what the outcome of the diagnosis, treatment, and overall effect for me. Anyway if you made it this far i just wanted to share because i trust 7cups will be there for me to listen thx everyone

Yes, a new diagnosis is scary. It's good that you have a team of supportive people. That means that the conclusion made by the therapist is just one opinion among several. My impression is that there is more to be discussed with regard to diagnosis because after 3 to 4 years of involvement with mental health services, the diagnosis of DID hasn't come up.
Perhaps after the meeting, you can talk to someone about what has been decided. Keep in mind, you are a whole and complete person, not just a diagnosis. Regardless of the diagnosis, I suspect the team will continue to work towards interventions that genuinely help you.
