Howdy System Here
Hi, we are a medically recognized system! About a year a half now. Collectively we go by Stray! I myself go by Treke! The body is 28.
We are looking to make some new system friends!
@TheStraySystem
Howdy, Stray and Treke! I'm Kiara. Welcome! We have several people here who are systems, so you fit in so well here <3 We're so glad to have you! <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 Hello!!! Thank you so much for the welcome!! It means a lot to us! :)
You are so welcome! Tell us more about you? <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 I work as a cook in a cafe! Which is face paced but works surprisingly well for us! I have also known about my system for several years now, but only recently in the last year and half got a proper diagnosis! My psych doc had us down for Psychosis for a good couple years prior though he still thinks it might be some Psychosis for other things lol
Was it hard to realize that you were a system? Have people judged you?
What do you like making in the cafe? <3
What’s psychosis? What other things? <3
@jesusredeemedme2425
@jesusredeemedme2425 It was def a bit hard especially when people didn't believe me or told me it wasnt real. Its gotten a lot better on that front in recent years as people are becoming more accepting of it.
My favorite thing to cook is a sandwich called the Breakfast Grilled Cheese. Cheese, fried eggs, spinach and ham. It was the first recipe at work I learned to make and so its super easy for me lol.
I believe my doctor diagnosed me with Psychosis as a general "idk whats wrong with you but its sure... not right" and lumped my alters in with my hallucinations before my therapist got me my DID diagnosis. Tbh my psychiatrist isn't the best when I think about it. 😅
Also thank you for talking to me and taking the time to ask me questions! It makes me feel pretty good!!
I’ll bet it was really discouraging and humiliating even.
That sounds sooooo good! I want one hehe
Do they give you free food??? Hehe
What does psychosis even mean tho? Is it just a catch all?
I think it’s time for a new psych ;)
I was hoping I wasn’t asking too many questions! Lol. I’m glad you like it. Shall I ask you more? <3
@jesusredeemedme2425b It sure was a time. Ended up cutting ties with a lot of those people for my own mental health lol
As for the cafe, Yes! it is locally owned and the owner is super sweet. If she see someone is struggling she has been known to cover a meal! She wants to implement a pay it forward system that if someone can afford to they can pay for the meal of some in need. Its a really sweet concept.
Also one day I do hope to have a new psych doc. My insurance is just stingy on who I can and can't see lol.
But yes! Feel free to keep asking questions. I love talking and interacting (if I disappear for too long its just cause I had to go to bed lol)
That’s super mature and brave of you! Boundaries are AMAZING <3
That is SO sweet! I heard a story once about suspended coffee. Customers would come in and buy a coffee for themselves, and ask to buy a suspended coffee. That meant they were paying for a coffee for someone in need. That person could come in and ask if there were any suspended coffees available, and if there was, they’d get one free of charge, because someone else already paid for it <3
Yeah, insurance sucks lol
No worries, it’s late here too lol
What made you realize you had DID?
What are some hobbies you guys like?
Am I talking to the same alter in every post? <3
I hope to meet more of the alters someday <3 <3 <3
@jesusredeemedme2425Thank you! I know a lot of us in the system have never been good with boundaries and tend to let people walk on us :/ we def need to get better with that lol
The first time anyone in here noticed something was around forth grade? Used to go by a handful of different names in school and at some point our SUPER spiritual mother tried to convince us it was 'past lives' and tried to like... convince us that there were alters that she entirely made up. ((Now that I am older and know what it actually is I realize that it was her trying to ignore the trauma I had experienced)) I didn't know it was DID until I actually started therapy and found out I was missing memories lol
Most of us like to play video games and draw, but depending on what part is at front, some of us might be better that that then others lol. I (treke) am fairly good at art while a part like Patrick just scribbles.
And right now yes! Usually our switches are sporadic, but I have been solidly fronting for about eleven days. And I really should remember to sign my posts lol
~ Treke
Please remind me to respond to this when it’s not so late hehe
Me too. Boundaries are something I do not excel at lol
What kind of alters did she make up?
Did she know about the trauma?
I’m curious about how that works, the differing levels of ability. I know that each alter is different, but from a scientific standpoint, it’s one body and one mind. So I wonder how the abilities change? Also, I’ve heard eye color can change. I’m curious how this all works <3 (btw, I hope I don’t offend. I’m curious and learning) <3
Is Patrick a little?
Is one person fronting for a long time easier?
@TheStraySystem
I'm diagnosed DID recently only 2 months ago. Mind if I join this thread?
@rockyroadie996 Absolutely feel free to join! I was looking for new system friends anyhow! Its lovely to meet you! How are you managing now that you have your diagnosis? I know it helped us a bit once we knew what was happening lol
@TheStraySystem I hadn't anticipated being diagnosed DID. I had asked for an assessment for a while, and thought I just had a dissociative disorder, but that it could be something less severe. It's still something I'm coming to terms with. I'd been fretting about the possibility of having a severe and undiagnosed dissociative disorder for a long time. After getting diagnosed, finally having an authority figure listen to me and validate my concerns has been a pretty derealizing experience because it doesn't feel like something that could've happened in reality. Up to that point I'd had a lot of professionals tell me that I didn't have it and was exaggerating dissociation and amnesia with BPD schema modes. Because I'd been fretting about it for so long, I'm worried that since the diagnosis, it's been something that I've been avoiding and not wanting to accept. For instance, although I've previously identified as a system in passing, I now find it difficult to acknowledge it with others. Many people have questions about who's out and who they're talking to, but I still find it hard to keep track of who's fronting. We've been masking our system for a long time, trying to hide our voice changes if people had pointed them out or told us to stop talking in strange voices. Now that people are trying to be more understanding, it can feel like they are treating me differently. It can feel like I'm expected to know pretty much everything about DID when I enforced an information blackout while advocating for my assessment because the last thing I wanted to be accused of was research to aid in any malingering or fabrication. I think it might be a good idea for me to make friends with other systems and lift the information blackout I had imposed on myself. I'm worried about how well I'll adapt to navigating this with support after mainly being used to navigating it in my own way without the support.
Hey there! I've been wanting to pop in and welcome you all to 7Cups. It's nice to meet you all. I also wanted to invite you to a chat we host every Wednesday at 1pm in the trauma room for DID/OSDD-1. We focus on safety and stabilization which is so important for systems. Plus it's an awesome way to meet other systems too! The announcement thread is Here and if you'd like to have your name added to the tag list just let me know!
@TheStraySystem @rockyroadie996
@mytwistedsoul Thanks for this. I'll be there when I'm able to unlock the room since my account is still pretty new.
@rockyroadie996 You're welcome! We look forward to seeing you there. I completely forgot about the room requirements!
