Hi, we are a medically recognized system! About a year a half now. Collectively we go by Stray! I myself go by Treke! The body is 28.

We are looking to make some new system friends!

@TheStraySystem I hadn't anticipated being diagnosed DID. I had asked for an assessment for a while, and thought I just had a dissociative disorder, but that it could be something less severe. It's still something I'm coming to terms with. I'd been fretting about the possibility of having a severe and undiagnosed dissociative disorder for a long time. After getting diagnosed, finally having an authority figure listen to me and validate my concerns has been a pretty derealizing experience because it doesn't feel like something that could've happened in reality. Up to that point I'd had a lot of professionals tell me that I didn't have it and was exaggerating dissociation and amnesia with BPD schema modes. Because I'd been fretting about it for so long, I'm worried that since the diagnosis, it's been something that I've been avoiding and not wanting to accept. For instance, although I've previously identified as a system in passing, I now find it difficult to acknowledge it with others. Many people have questions about who's out and who they're talking to, but I still find it hard to keep track of who's fronting. We've been masking our system for a long time, trying to hide our voice changes if people had pointed them out or told us to stop talking in strange voices. Now that people are trying to be more understanding, it can feel like they are treating me differently. It can feel like I'm expected to know pretty much everything about DID when I enforced an information blackout while advocating for my assessment because the last thing I wanted to be accused of was research to aid in any malingering or fabrication. I think it might be a good idea for me to make friends with other systems and lift the information blackout I had imposed on myself. I'm worried about how well I'll adapt to navigating this with support after mainly being used to navigating it in my own way without the support.

Hey there! I've been wanting to pop in and welcome you all to 7Cups. It's nice to meet you all. I also wanted to invite you to a chat we host every Wednesday at 1pm in the trauma room for DID/OSDD-1. We focus on safety and stabilization which is so important for systems. Plus it's an awesome way to meet other systems too!  The announcement thread is Here and if you'd like to have your name added to the tag list just let me know!

@mytwistedsoul Thanks for this. I'll be there when I'm able to unlock the room since my account is still pretty new.
