Results of the Survey on "Discussing Trigger Warnings" and 2. Survey
Hello everyone,
Two months ago, @WorkingitThrough2 wrote a great post that started a discussion about the question if trigger warnings are actually helpful, or if another term might be better. I took all the term suggestions and created a survey, of which I'll show the results today.
Overall, 87 people responded to the survey. 75% of them have a trauma-related disorder themself. 77% said that they find trigger warnings helpful.
Regarding the terms, "trigger warning" and "content warning" were the most preferred ones:

From the comments, I took three things:
1. The warning should always be followed by a short description of the topic.
2. There should be a list of all the topics that need a trigger warning.
3. During discussions, the triggering content can't directly follow the warning. Instead, there should be a short break and if someone doesn't want to be confronted with this topic, there should be an agreement on how long the topic will be discussed so that the person can leave and join again afterwards. Also, there should be trigger topic free discussions.
Now, I've created a second survey to find out if trigger or content warning is the preferred term and to collect ideas for a list of trigger topics. Please fill it out here.
Thank you so much for all your contributions! I feel honored to walk this journey with you and hope that it will lead to 7 Cups feeling even more safe for you in the end.
Take care,
audienta

I would look into using something else for forms or surveys instead of google.
@Myosotis17
Why do you think so?
Wow, I'm glad you're doing this. What made you want to take on this project?
@YSC1
@WorkingitThrough2 had the idea of writing a post about the pros and cons of trigger warnings and I felt like this is a very important topic that, if handled well, could increase the safety and accessibility of 7 Cups. So I'm giving my best to try and support this project as well as possible. Thank you for your feedback!
It's a great idea and I too hope it improves our experiences on here. Thanks!
@audienta thank you 💚 I don't always like to fill out surveys, and I'm not sure if I will or won't with this one, but I do have a suggestion. Since research is being taken into account, as well as individual preferences and opinions, and since it appears that there is not a large gap between the use of trigger and content as the two descriptive words, might it be better to use "content warning"? Based on my quick review of everything here, I think that might be the better choice. Just a thought. Thank you for doing all of this.
