Stopping Nightmares

I had a nightmare last night and am nervous to sleep tonight. Does anyone have any advice?

I've tried sleeping different places, bed, couch, even the floor, but I'll still have nightmares or panic before going to bed. I don't even know why all the time. Sometimes that is the hardest part, because it makes them so unpredictable since I don't know what brings them on.

How do you all deal with nightmares? Thank you for contributing.

It's an unsettling feeling dealing with nightmares. Mine are exceptionally vivid and detailed so I don't blame you for being unnerved.

What I've realised is mine are brought on by stress that has either piled up or I haven't dealt with yet so I try really hard to get all my misgivings out before bed.

My thing is, afterwards I put on loud party music on and tell myself, it was just a bad dream, it's over now, it can't hurt me.

Sleep is important when I feel calmer, I'll listen to asmr and drift off naturally. It's rare to have a second bad dream.
