When I was growing up I was beaten starved and starved….. I don’t know how to move forward without it bothering me. It effect’s my mental health… it effect’s everything in my daily life. When I try to be something more my past always messes it up. I been told by my mothers ex that I was worthless just don’t know how to move past it

@deadman9569

🥺

I'm so sorry , no child should have ever been treated like that!

You didn't deserve it at all!

Your step father is very wrong!

He took enough time away from you.

Don't create a mindset that is negative based on his harmful but wrong words!

I know, we cannot wave a magic wand and just forget it and our past, that would be great but you cannot change the past!

You have enough that had been taken away from you, you deserve to be happy!

💜💕

@deadman9569 I grew up in a similar environment. Childhood trauma affects every aspect of adulthood. The things we're told daily leave just as many scars as the beatings did. I'm sorry for the things you went through. To echo @Amanda84, no child should ever be treated that way.

It's not easy getting away from the past. You can heal those wounds. There might still be some cracks left but the gaping wounds can be helped. Have you given thought to a therapist? A trauma informed therapist can help you work through things.

Journal your thoughts. It's good to get them out. Remind yourself that you're safe now. Say it out loud so your inner child can hear it. Sometimes we have to reparent ourselves and it's ok to have fun and play. Let your children help you with this and they'll love the quality time with you too I bet. We can challenge and reframe negative thoughts and feelings. It takes time and we have to be patient with ourselves because healing is hard work but it can be done

You are more than your past. You are worthy of love and peace, understanding and acceptance. 💜
