Advice needed on PTSD (current struggles mentioned)

December 29th, 2020

Hello,

I struggle with CPTSD and I still live with my abusive family. As such I am always triggered, recently it has been much worse, emotional flashbacks, resurfacing trauma memories and panic attacks.

The effect of Grounding exercises and self soothing for me is questionable, I do not feel at ease nor do I feel safe, It takes too much time and efforts and activities like writing and painting, for me to feel slightly stabalised.

I cannot keep up with my life. I am not able to get any academic work done, which is high priority right now in order for me to move away and be independent.

I have no idea how to support myself through this time.I have become avoidant, having sleep issues and eating issues. No part of my life seems to be in control and everything is causing me immense emotional pain.

The negative self talk, accompanied by invalidation from people and no support network in life, has made me miserable. I get overhwhelmed by everything.

I feel lost.

Any advices and tips would be welcome.

@Orihara Exercises may help you. Do you remember how your episode ended? Maybe it can shed light on the current moment. There are a lot of resources online that you can use. Make use of them.

@NguyenHoangLong Exercise never seems to help me, even when I'm working out, I never feel like I have processed out any emotions, I still do exercise daily and workout sometimes for a more positive self image.

I do not know how my triggers end, I try to relax as much as I can, I take some rest and try to divert attention by doing other things, but the misery seems to be permanent at times.

I do try to look up new things online and try different things

I journal, I do meditation sometimes. If there are any other habits that you think would be helpful I'm open to suggestions.

right now Im just trying to cling to the hope that someday it won't be like this

I'm sorry for what you've gone through, I understand how difficult it is to cope with flashbacks.

One thing I know is, In life, curiosity and looking forward to something each day, will help us deal with the misery of today.

When I was 14 I was going through this too, what I did is, I made a bucket list- 100 things I want to do when I grow up.

I understand that when you are suffering in your mind, it's tough to look forward to a future, tell me, were there things you wanted to do as a child? or do you come across new things you feel like trying?

Please know, you deserve care and safety.
