@SoftForestHSP77 Welcome to the diary section Forest. Good to see you here smiley

When you have gone through a traumatic event, for some people they may have an inner sense that they can survivor the hard stuff, following trauma, some people come out of the experience accepting what happened, not blaming themselves, perhaps feeling stronger, more resiliant and can get on with their life, and day to day functioning fairly well. But for others, they may struggle more and may ve in need of outside help to cope, to function, to work through what happened to them and the impact that its had on them. You mentioned having a hard time feeling happy. Often the first step towards regaining some sense of happiness to to make a decision to change things that are not working for them that make them unhappy, to change a situation which is keeping them locked into a feeling of unhappiness.Often unresolved trauma, feelings, pain will interfere with potential happiness and especially grief. Grief isn't just about mourning the loss of someone who may have died, but it also includes grieving for lost opportunities that was as a direct result of your experiences, for some the loss of childhood, the loss of not having had someone safe to whom they should have been able to turn to and so on.

Traumatic experiences hurt, and they can leave us feeling vulnerable but part of working towards the sense of happiness you wish for yourself, may mean being willing to turn those hurts out, to feel the feelings, to be vulnerable, to share with others, to face losses, and resolve grief and all the other painful emotions that can come from having suffered trauma. As you begin to process and work through the trauma you begin over time to feel less emotional pain, are able to cope more effectively, are not plunged into the dark places that trauma can leave you in, and certainly the pain can begin to feel less intense and can be replaced by better times, better days, more positive and healthy thought patterns and emotions. You can begin to walk towards and grab onto that happiness that you seek for yourself. smiley
