Hurting
I didn't know if I was ever going to open up about this...but...what better way to heal.
My dad passed away a bit ago, leaving me, and my little sister in the care of my mom. She's been having an extremely hard time with coping, and I don't blame her, so she's turned to alcohol, sort of...how do I put this..."Drinking away the pain", if you will..?
She hits and yells and shoves and other unpleasant things. It's bad for me, but worse for my little sister. She's so small, she's afraid of her own shadow because of the things my mother has done to her.
Every time I'm yelled at, insulted, hit, ect, it's permenantly etched into my brain, I can't get it out. I guess that's why I'd call it traumatizing.
I am so sorry for your pain, and your sister's pain to.
Coping/how to are never easy. Some say. "I don't need your help." Or. Why bother? No one hears me anyway."
The key is to let them know you do listen, and that they aren't being judged on their behavior. I can see you wish you could take her pain away?
We all wish we could take each others pain, it can be hard to watch. Before you can help her or anyone else. You have to make sure you are OK first. 7 Cups has some guides to help. Just go to Support & Guides at the top.
You can also reach out to a Listener like myself and tell me more, only if you'd want to. :D
Hope to talk soon.
