It Stung
A mother of a family friend of mine died, and I reached out a lot but I never got a response. I just wanted to be there for the person but I know that tons of people were reaching out at the same time. I work for this family and I had to sort out the thank you cards that my friend wrote to the people that reached out. I was a little hurt that I didn't see a thank you card for myself. It hurt. I told myself that maybe in person that this person will say thank you to me, but I guess I have to let go of all expectations.
You done well to try and reach out, it's things like this people remember. I lost my mom last year, I didn't respond to people reaching out to me, when I did, it was too late because they thought I ignored them, and I did, but I wasn't ready for pity or sympathy, but I always remembered the people who tried. They probably just forgot, it happens when you lose track of your mind, I forgot a lot, don't take it yo heart. You did a good thing, that's what counts. @Kendyy124
@Kendyy124 I think what you did was very caring and sensitive and Im sorry that you feel no one was able to be there even to say thank you to you. People react in all kinds of ways when someone dies and some people don't know how to react or fear of making a situation worse or for saying the wrong thing. Perhaps people struggle to know how to be in the light of a tragic bereavement. Whats important in this, is you cared and you reached out. That is such a wonderful thing to have done :)
