My trauma (may be triggering)

Four years ago began my journey with PTSD. My sister had just about graduated from the Art Institute Of Portland. She was thriving. Unfortunately, her boyfriend Mike of 6 years was on his same old path with easing his pain by self medicating. But that day my sister told him she was done with the relationship. Me my mom, my sister and her five year old son Damian where relaxing at my parents house. As my mom and I watch a girly chick flick I hear the backdoor raddle. Both back doors where locked. I get up and head to the kitchen. My sister and nephew are staring out the back sliding glass door. They must have heard it too. Bang! The front door swung open. Mike's standing there holding a container. He starts pouring the liquid all over the couch and said "this is what you deserve." I could then smell the gasoline. Mike walked up to me and started pouring the gasoline at my feet. I turned to run. My sister went after Mike. I could hear her scream. "just let me go" I remember her saying. I started going back for her. We collided in the hallway. As I stepped into the grass of my backyard I was on my cell phone with 911. We came around to the front of the house just as my bedroom window went up into red flames. I screamed bloody murder in the middle of the road. Luckily we all excaped without hurting ourselves. Unfortunately, Mike did burn half his body doing so and he got a 16 sentence in prison.

What a terrifying experience, I am pleased to hear that you (and you family) escaped the fire. Thank you for being so brave, in sharing your story. I hope your recovery is going well.
