Public School... Is It Trauma?
As a child, I always had a very hard time being separated from my parents– particularly my mother, and the first time I went to school obviously you can imagine I didn't take it to well.
Everyone has problems on the first day of school but... I found myself getting very lost. Memories from these days are very cloudy, but I know that I did suffer emotional abuse more than the average child, especially by the hands of school teachers. I remember specifically my second grade teacher told me she would send me to the principal if I didn't stop crying... and that devestated me, someone who had never been in trouble, being threatened with punishment had I not stopped showing signs of distress.
Maybe I'm just overreacting. Maybe it's not trauma, but every time I have a school memory, I want to cry and push it away. I don't want to think of the word "school". I don't want to talk to my friends. I don't want to be reminded of that sad, horrible place, and how it took everything from me.
