Staring Men

June 23rd, 2015

I wish the world would come out of denial regarding childhood sexual abuse. When a man stares at me, I cringe. Today my neighbor triggered me when he stared at me. Men need to stop traumatizing women with their bold rude staring. In a culture of male privilege apparently men can still do whatever they want, but if I complain I'm a femi nazievidently. Staring is rude, period, whether a man does it to a woman or a woman does it to a man or whatever the case may be. I'm sick of having to suffer for the sins of men who don't get locked up for their crimes against children and women. Next time you stare at a woman, ask yourself this, did she grow up in a household where her father stared at her and then later molested her? You, with your bold rude staring, may be opening up a terrible can of worms. Please don't stare at women and trigger them if that is the kind of man you are. We need to create a world of respect where all women may feel safe and respected. And all people, but that's not what my post is about. I know it will be misunderstood anyway. But that's ok. I am a human being and not other or object. Deal with it, world.

Thank you for this post, lovely. It looks like you've left 7 Cups since you wrote this, but I hope you're doing okay <3 It's so clear how what happened to you when you were younger is still impacting you every day, and I hope that you're starting to step free of the shadow of what he did to you.

You deserve to live a life free of the pain of what happened to you. For anyone, it feels uncomfortable to be stared at in a certain way, but my heart absolutely breaks for you having to cope with this.

All my love, Lyra
