Traumatic Experiences Are Not One
Survivors of trauma can encounter a wide range of unexpected, negative experiences. It is important to note that any traumatic incidents whereby one is intentionally caused to be hurt or harmed by others, or to be violated by others, are not ones fault.
Victims have done nothing to deserve these traumatic, often painful experiences at the hand of others. Perpetrators have usually made conscious, intentional choices intended to cause harm to others, and these are decisions which could have been avoided by them.
A survivor is an innocent individual, who has done nothing wrong, and has nothing wrong with themselves, to deserve any maltreatment, harassment, abuse, or any other traumatic mistreatment from another person(s). He or she should not place any blame upon themselves, for what has occurred. Perpetrators often have their own sets of reasons for engaging in negative actions towards others, and these reasons have nothing to do with an individual.
Survivors can often develop levels of inner strength, perseverence, and resilience to overcome traumatic hardships. These challenging experiences can allow for personal development, and act as mechanisms to propel one to attain enhanced personal character such as a deepened compassionate and understanding nature, and/or becoming stronger to endure future challenges in their lives.
One never has to feel that experiencing traumatic events related to being hurt by others, has anything to do with them, or is of their own fault.
@StrengthFromWithin Well said and well thought out. This is a great post and I hope others stop by and read this. Thank you :)

Thank you Rainbow. :)
It is my hope that anyone coping after a traumatic experience, will seek and attain effective, positive support for themselves. I feel that sharing your experiences is a very important step, instead of holding things in. Communicating about your experiences, particularly with other survivors, will allow you to realize that you are not alone in experiencing traumatic events, and this will allow you to process the trauma incurred, and aid in your healthful healing, and recovery. Good luck to all
I feel that nobody should ever blame themselves, for negative actions, decisions, and choices which are taken by other people. The choices which you make, are separate from any decisions which are ever made by others. Nobody has any place to cause any negative interferences in another's life, and if this is the case, I feel it is very important to seek positive sources of support for oneself, and engage in healthful, positive methods of coping, in lieu of negative ones.
@Callandra Very well said Callandra and I share your sentiments. Thanks

Neat post and well spoken on behalf of trauma survivors :0
When people try to cause to others hurt or harm, these decisions are completely avoidable.
@7CupsTea
These choices did not have to be made. Nobody deserves to be hurt.
@VanillaCawfie Well said Vanilla and those who conssciously and deliberately choose to hurt others for their own gain do so knowing they have the choice to hurt someone who has less power than them, who is more vulnerable then them and it is totally unavoidable.
I think that participating in groups such as these, where people/victims can connect with other people who are going through similar experiences of trauma, and who can relate to them in their experiences, can be a viable option for coping.
@Cawfie For some people knowing they are not alone, and that others are going through similar experiences make people feel less isolated with what they are going through. Knowing that just one person out there cares can make all the difference. Everyones experiences are unique to them. Even if people have gone through child abuse or domestic violence, their experiences are still unique to them. But they may share similar feelings, similar thought patterns etc. That can help someone feel its not just them who feels as they do, who thinks as they do. And a lot of positive experiences can come from being with others who have gone through trauma. So it can be a valuable coping experience
@Rain45
Well-said. There are so many trauma survivors who have gone through a varied array of different traumatic experiences, and these are abnormal events which should have never occurred to anyone in the first place. No-one is alone in this, and no-one deserves these negative incidents to happen to them.
I feel that traumatic experiences are not one's fault, and it seems that in multiple cases, it is due to a person's personal characteristics that they find themselves to be victimized, and victims of disrespect, maltreatment, discrimination, harassment, etc. Personal characteristics could include having a disability, race, sexual orientation, etc. These are not warranted grounds, in order to mistreat a person. I hope that this community will provide a voice for all participating survivors of trauma.
