Im sorry to hear that you have experienced negative feelings, of feeling ashamed and broken after having been through traumatic experiences. I hope that will begin to realize that these negative experiences were NOT your fault! Nobody deserves to be hurt, for any reason, in any set of circumstances. Wishing you a successful recovery, involving feeling like a survivor in lieu of a victim. :)
I definitely used to feel like a survivor. And like I had a lot to give to help others and give back. Despite ALL of my trauma I HAD overcome (or so I thought) But then..... I think, with repeated exposure to intense triggers in my workplace something clicked and things started shutting down.
I had never taken the time to learn about the true impacts of trauma before not until I came to a place where I felt like I was no longer a survivor - I began to feel like a victim. That the impacts of my trauma were so insidious and deep rooted I hadnt even been able to recognize they were there until I fell apart and couldnt function any more. I had been trying to hold together so much more than I should have for the majority of my life. I feel cheated and robbed
