*Trigger warning* - Am I unreasonable?

Three years ago today I was jumped, gang-raped, and stabbed, the date itself is a trigger for me because as it was happening when I went to grab at my phone for help I only saw the date before having it kicked away and then that is all I could think of. When I asked my parents if my girlfriend, who is also my best friend and has been through a lot of similar stuff I have, could come over and explained that today was the day it happened and I don't really have a choice that it effects me, they sort of blew me off and said it is irrational that I feel this way. I also have ritualized annually cutting back into the scars left behind from being stabbed to remind myself that I am in ck trol of what happens to myself both mind and body. Am I unreasonable for feeling this way?

I'm so so so sorry if I triggered anyone I should have put a warning and I didn't think about it. I'm sorry if you were triggered or upset by my post. :/

You're not being unreasonable. I still feel like I go crazy the anniversary when I got assaulted. It sounds like you're doing really well. These things take time. It does get better. You're parents probably feel guilty or maybe afraid that it might happen again. And they'd rather forget that it happened than talk about it. Maybe if you were to write them a letter with how you feel, that might break the ice a little and start a conversation. As difficult as this is for you, I came to realize it was difficult for my parents as well.
