My granddad successfully drilled into me, as far as money goes, that if we spent even just one more dollar than me make, that we'll be in for a bad time.
I feel fortunate to not have had the financial issues some of my friends have had with things like credit card debt. I may not make a whole lot of money, but I do try to live within my means, and that has at least resulted in a pretty good credit score for myself.
I would say that being financially responsible (and even just pursuing it) has also given me a sense of control and pride in my own well-being.
I am so glad to hear that. You sound like you are doing your best with what you have and that’s the first step. You are doing great! I love your perspective because family members really do drill different things in your head about money and financial status.
