Will I Ever Get Over It?

My adopted sister emotionally, sexually, and physically abused me. I don't know if it was for two years or three years. She was kicked out of the house after shifting her aggression from me towards my mom. My mom knows (but I don't think she believes it happened) and my best friend knows. (Just not about the sexual abuse)

She told me she would kill herself if I didn't do what she wanted. She told me she loved me and that I was the only thing keeping her alive. I immediately knew this was a bad sign, but I didn't know it would escalate so much. She told me she would kill my longterm boyfriend, and that she often had almost erotic dreams of turtoring and murdering him and if I didn't break up with him she would kill me and hurt me. So I did, with some bs excuse about school and needing time away. It think he knew I was lying, but he didn't talk to me after that. If I tried standing up for myself she would tell my friends and the people in my drama club that I would hit her, ignore her, and call her names like whore and tell her she would end up like her mother (because she was raped as a child and her mom basically sold her for drug money.) We used to get into fights, and she would always win. She spread rumors about me to "keep me in my place" and kept telling me I willingling had sex with her because I'm not as pure as I like to think I am, and so much more. Will I ever stop feeling like I deserved it? Will I ever stop feeling ashamed? How long will it take?

Sorry for the late reply! You didn't deserve this treatment at all, being repeatedly abused and threatened by your manipulative sister is something no one would deserve. It wasn't your fault, and although your mind may say you deserved it that's not true, it's common and absolutely okay to experience these thoughts yet they do get better, you're a fighter and you survived this all.

How is the situation now? How have you been lately?
