Blackouts

I'm writing this to find out if anyone else can relate.

At the moment I'm preprocessing trauma which I endured years ago, as I met my attacker recently.

What's happening at the moment is I'm having alot of trouble sleeping, I might go days with little or no sleep...but then exhaustion takes over (especially if I've been drinking ) and I can just fall asleep in public.

What happens after that is very sketchy for me but I have been told that I get very confused and scared.

I think last night I lashed out at a co worker I was drinking with ( I didn't drink that much and didn't feel drunk at all and no hangover today) but I have no memory of this at all.

He said I was shouting rape when he had just tried to wake me.

This is really disturbing for me and I'm totally embarrassed.

I've also had other times where I think I've blacked out and not been present at all.

I don't what to do and it's scaring the hell out of me..

That sounds scary, I cannot imagine how scary that must be for you. Have you seen a doctor about the blackouts?

If you didn't feel intoxicated, maybe you weren't. Maybe it's something else. It can be a range of things, and not all are/have to be life-threatening.

Can you try scheduling an appointment with your doctor?

I'm very sorry to hear you are experiecing this. I would say based on my knowledge of PTSD it is very common after traumatic events to have blackouts and flashbacks but I defintely understand that you are scared and confused. Are you currently seeing a doctor to help you through these issues?
