Can’t remember trauma

My older brother has been emotionally abusing me for years. I’ve only recognized it as what it truly is - abuse - these past few months. But when I look through my memories, I can’t remember some of the traumatic experiences I know I’ve had with him. Is this abuse amnesia? Or do I just have a bad memory?

@DingoJackal

Hi,

After reading your letter, I think there might be two possibilities why you forgot the "abuse" from your brother. However, I may not be correct, so I suggest you to find help from policeman or other of your family members, such as your parents.

Firstly, as what you've guested, you may had Dissociative amnesia or Psychogenic amnesia. It is a mental illness. Patients forget important information in their personal memories, usually not caused by physical factors (such as brain injury or memory deterioration), but by a major blow that caused significant grief, or extreme dissatisfaction with their family members. The patient develops self-defense mechanisms against trauma and loses memory.

The second possible reason is Persecutory Type. It mainly refers to patients who are often in a state of fear, reasoning and judgment indiscriminately, thinking obstacles, and believing that they are being persecuted or harmed.

Whatever the reason is, I really suggest you to find help. From either people your could trust or call policemen. Don't worry. Everything will be fine.

I hope my ideas are helpful.
