Fear of Money

Hi everyone. This may sound strange, but due to a traumatic incident I'm terrified to look at my bank account. Every time I do I get really anxious and sometimes have a panic attack.

This makes life difficult of course.

Any advice or suggestions?

@BorahaeAndHappiness It sounds like you're experiencing some sort of PTSD because of the incident you had. This sounds indeed very challenging and it makes sense why you experience some stress every time you look at the bank account. From my experience the more you face the fear the better you feel overtime. However, it is better to reach out to a listener or therapist to talk further about the incident. Please don't hesitate to talk. This will help you accept it and overcome this fear slowly. We are here for you and thank you for sharing!

Because of financial losses in the past, it's difficult for me to check bank accounts or do taxes, even though I'm doing fine now. Trauma will do it for you. It instills fear. Exposure therapy should help, but can retraumatise you too .
