I’m scared for my life (trigger warning)

Back in 2018, I met this guy over the internet. I was a senior in high school at that time and I was just excited for someone to notice me since I was a lonely kid. We never exchanged personal information and we didn’t know what we looked like either but, all I know was he was a much older man. He was kind to me at first and even introduced me to his other friends on the *** messaging app and they too were kind to me and praised me that I was still young in their eyes but, at the time I didn’t think much of it since I just turned 18 at that time and didn’t think about it. Fast forward more weeks, we started *** and he coerced me into sending pics of me (he doesn’t know what I look like and I don’t know his face either) and he asked me what I’m into. I told him basic categories like straight porn, gay, etc. and he said “ok” and sent me random links. I asked what were they for and he instructed me to download another app to view them. At that point, I did everything he said as he had this power over me and I downloaded this app/created an account to view the content after I imported it. After I did, I saw what they contained and I was mortified/scarred for life. I asked him why and he thought I’d like it and I said no. For weeks afterwards, my original plan was reporting everything but, I was scared because he did have pics of me and I didn’t want him to send those to his friends so, I had to wait until it was safe to block him. After I blocked him, his friends found out and tried to make me part of their group more and I left that group and blocked them as well before deleting that *** account entirely. I then planned to report the content still on the other app in my old phone at the time but, I was scared that no one would believe me that I was a victim to this so what I did was delete all of that, the account, and the email that went with the account out of fear for my own life as by that time, I just started college and everything was deleted by later 2018. Nothing happened to me ever since and I physically can no longer contact these people as everything is gone and I don’t ever plan on trying with that either. Now that it’s almost 2023, I need to renew my drivers license at the DMV as it expires soon next month and then I’ll have to apply for jobs as I finish college soon. My question is, do you think I’m alright legal wise? Like, I read about people having arrest warrants without their knowledge and that freaks me out because I’ve kept a clean record all my life and I don’t want that past situation to continue haunting me even though I know I was a victim to all of that and I didn’t know better at the time. I’m so sorry that this is a graphic situation as I cannot handle it anymore. I just need to know that will I be alright at the DMV in December and not receive a arrest warrant while I renew my license?

Oh sweetheart, what a tough situation you are in! I am in no way an expert but I have had many enhanced dbs checks due to my job. I honestly think you'll be fine, if you had a warrant or anything I think they would have came knocking by now. But it does sound like you have a lot or unresolved trauma relating to this. Have you spoken to anyone else about this before? Those awful men are absolutely the ones to blame, remember that! You didn't mention the content specifically, I think I can guess, but if it's what I think then I would urge you to consider reporting it still as they are more than likely still victimising people. Chin up lovely!

Yes, others have said that none of this was my fault and I was a victim to all of this but, I don’t know how I can still report the content since I haven’t had access to that account after I deleted it in 2018 and I don’t want to risk reporting as I don’t want to be a target for something where I don’t have the proof anymore.

First, i don't believe you should worry about it. You cut the ties with those perverts and it should be it.

I'm glad you posted it. It's such a warning to all young and inexperienced persons who can be manipulated easily by skilled sociopaths. Some of them are sitting in prisons and have too much time on their hands. A lot of financial fraud happens that way if you can manipulate people into loving you and trusting you.

As for you from now on, you need to lose that shame and guilt. After all, you're a victim. You probably should see a therapist to help you with that. All the best to you!

Thank you, hearing your kind words means a lot to me since for years I’ve kept everything to myself out of fear that others wouldn’t believe me and the situation that I’ve went through.

I posted it as I also know that there are others like me in the world scared about future events like applying for a drivers license or job because we’re nervous that something will pop up on our end.

I know that I’m a victim and none of it was my fault but I do get somewhat nervous thinking if there is something on me since I deleted everything. I can’t afford therapy as I am a broke college student so I’m on here and I only speak to close friends/people who I trust. I wish you well too.
