Multiple traumas--How did they merge and why?
I came here for an assult trauma I experienced in 1988. My coping mechanisms had been successful for many years. For some reason, last month my assult trauma suddenly burst back into my consciousness. Lack of sleep, racing thoughts, and flashbacks have returned. I thought I can deal with this but now my childhood sexual trauma and medical traumas have returned as well. I would not want anyone to ever have to experience what I'm going through now. They, the traumas, have merged. I don't know which one will emerge or whether all of them will at once. It's as if something has removed the walls I had built over the years in my mind to contain them separately. I don't really know how to handle and deal with these issues. If anyone has experienced this; and I pray no one has, any information that has worked for you would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any and all information provided.
@xandia. I'm so sorry your dealing with so much at once. I know that dark scary place. When my childhood abuser died that's when my wall started to slip. Then I experienced a s.assault. I was dealing with body changes of menopause. I was working in the most toxic job. I had a seriously painful physical ailment. (Pain 24/7.) My adult child had a near death medical e/r. I was caring for an aging in law. Finally my wall came down and I totally lost it. I was disassociating, suicidall, and couldn't function as I normally did for decades. This succession of events brought me to the proverbial edge. I couldn't hold the wall up anymore. I just couldn't do it. My sister begged me to get help for months. I shouldn't have waited so long. I started cbt therapy for my violent childhood trauma and out came that s.assault and all the toxic I was dealing with at work . I started antidepressants and antianxiety meds. I was diagnosed CPTSD.MDD. My life started to change for the better. I ditched the toxic job and started focusing on myself and my needs for the very first time in my life. I started delving into my past and my present trauma as painful and horrific as it all was. I had to or I wasn't going to make it. Some days are still so incredibly difficult I can barely breathe. I hope my post helps you in some way. Again I'm so sorry you are struggling but there's hope, reach out for help. Best always 💜 ABB
