When I was forced to move with my parents when I was teenager to a completely strange place, my parents saw it more as an opportunity for me to learn new skills rather than a terrible way of life. It took many years until I grew up to move out from that *** life, which caused me a lot of trauma and that made me disconnected to myself, and all those trauma made me very sensitive and anxious.

Today, over 15 years after I left that horrible place, I am proof that change is possible. If I could give an advice to myself moving forward, I'd tell myself to focus on my mental health first and to understand that I am already on the start of my journey and starting to feel safe, to understand a lot of the things that will eventually make me at peace with myself. It still feels overwhelming, anxious, dangerous to me, but I try to reconnect the dots in my mental life.

I am working out for myself how reconnecting with myself, physical exercising, unloading the memories, helps to increase my mental health.  I am developing a plan and new thinking patterns that will facilitate and support my mental health. When I focus on my mental health, when I do the work, it will change how I think about myself, my past and the reconciliation I feel will help me to keep recovering.   The rewards I gain are massive and I'll discover the feeling of living in peace with myself, my past, spending more time feeling happy and living a calm and stress-free life. And that, is the glittering prize.

I feel shame, yes I often do, because back in the days when I was in adolescence, I experienced a lot of trauma and was mentally stuck for years.

The opposite of shame is pride. How can I make myself proud? Genuinely try to be a better person, be happy to love myself, by improving myself to become a better person. :)
