Negative coping mechanisms when going through C-PTSD
I just feel so alone when it comes it having C-PTSD and always finding unhealthy ways to cope with it. I was wondering if anyone would feel comfortable in sharing their experiences with me so that it makes me feel less alone. Thanks.
@Raine453. I'm so sorry for your pain. I have had so many unbearable days. I totally understand. That pit of pain is excruciating and difficult to get out from under. I have CPTSD/MDD/Anxiety. I have old and new trauma and I feel some days like a live wire and other days when I can't get out of bed and all I want to do is cry. I have shared with my sis and my therapist and no one else. Its why I'm on 7 cups- my trauma is hard to hear and hard to tell. So I don't share with ppl I know. I have huge trust issues and ppl are nasty when they use your darkness to make themselves feel good, by blabbing/gossiping about the stuff that's brought you to your current condition. Most wouldn't have survived what I have. So I see my therapist regularly and I'm on medication, I journal and paint, I garden, I joined a gym and I try to spend time outside in nature when possible. I try very hard to see my life as a learning process as painful and damaging as it's been. I try to help others when I can. ( This helps me the most). It's very brave that you joined here and reached out for help! Great step into healing yourself. I realized that you have to be your own hero , reach out for help and love yourself no matter what's happened. Your doing the best you can with what you know. one day at a time. Best 💜 ABB
@amiableBlackberry92 Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experiences. You are letting people that are facing the same things as you know that they are not alone.
@Raine453 Thank you for posting this from your listener account. By doing so, you are bringing awareness that us listeners go through this.
This whole experience is so isolating. I feel defective on some level. I question my life so often. Today's one of those days I can't function and I feel incredibly sad. I hate this. My abuse is still affecting me and I hate that. It's so unfair, I'm not a bad person, maybe it's something I did in a previous life? Idk
@amiableBlackberry92 Hi. I feel this way too a lot. Probably more often than not. I hate the lasting effects. The only thing that seems to help a little is knowing that I likely would be different in worse ways too if I hadn't gone through the abuses. If I hadn't been the scapegoat, I probably would've been the Golden child. And I think I'd really rather have this pain than be like them and abuse others. Even if not that extreme, I've known a lot of decent people who weren't very kind to others. You seem very kind replying and supporting people here. I hope in some small way it helps to know that you are connecting and helping others' lives through your pain.
Yes trying hard, today's one of many... I can't shake my incredible sadness. I feel bad for my spouse he doesn't know what to do when I'm like this and I've tried everything it's just a wait it out thing. He's probably the only reason I'm not in a worse position. He was a kind of rescuer for me so I could afford to escape where I grew up. The biggest problem is I was an easy target to be victimized by many other rotten ppl in and out of the workplace and everywhere in between. I see those type of predators like sharks and I'm the little fish they can torment or eat . It's why I don't go out much . I can't work in my condition. My sibs and I try to support each other best we can because we really understand why we are the way we are. Thx for replying it makes me feel better....💜 ABB
Yes! It's sooo unfair! I thought it's some karma thing as well! It's extremely isolating! And I feel defective too!
@harryWatermelon....thx for your post , at least we know we're not alone in how we feel. Therapist always says to write down all the good things about myself and the good things I've accomplished. There's some she is correct . I just tend to focus on my sadness, I'm trying to change that into gratitude. ABB💜
