PTSD Triggers

I've witnessed domestic violence (mostly verbal abuse) my whole life, and have had that abuse inflicted on myself. I find that I get triggered when someone acts in an aggressive manner towards me, even if its for something so little. This could be all the way from the language they use, to the tone of their voice, and even their body language. Basically, if someone is angry with me, I get triggered. I end up getting jittery, anxious and fearful. It makes me want to cry, and just run away. Any ways to cope with this? Will it eventually get better? I don't want to seem childish to other people, when I'm an adult :/

Hey love, I'm Lindsay! I'm a survivor of child abuse and other means of violence. I am diagnosed with PTSD myself and am under diagnosis for my 2nd year now.
I once read up that acute PTSD, whereas the symptoms and such affect you the most after an event, can last up to 3 years after the event. But I'm not too sure about that.
However, I can sympathize with you and I can understand where you come from. Due to my childhood abuse, I found myself feeling the same things when someone would yell or raise their voice or anything of the sorts towards me, it triggered me instantly and still does.
Honestly, my symptoms and how much it affects me comes and goes and it all has to do with my environment. I try to limit the amount of stress in my environment if I can. If you so wish, when we are both online and appear to be available, shoot me a message and we shall chat :) or send me an offline message and I will connect with you when I am able!
Take care of yourself my love x
