PTSD suffering

I went through two shocks in a row, the first was in 2020 when I was unfairly dismissed from my job, which prevented me from applying for a job again until now, and the second was in 2022 when my father passed away suddenly while sitting next to me. Until now, I have not been able to do anything in my life, not even leave the house. I have been registered for a master's thesis since 2020 and until now I have not finished a chapter and I am terrified of any step I can take, especially since I was in a very critical situation after objections during the doctors' discussion regarding my thesis proposal. I do not know what to do?

That’s a lot to hold, and I want to start by saying—I’m really sorry for what you’ve been through. Both the loss of your father and the experience of being dismissed unfairly are incredibly heavy on their own and going through them back-to-back like that would shake anyone.

It makes so much sense that you're feeling stuck and afraid. You’ve been through trauma, grief, and deep uncertainty—not just emotionally, but in your identity, safety, and future. It’s not weakness that you haven’t made progress. It’s your mind and body doing their best to survive. It's okay to not be okay, and it makes total sense with everything that's happened to you in such a short amount of time.

Do you remember what helped you cope even a little during either of those moments? It can help sometimes to think back on these times and see if there's anything that helped with them, or if there are any coping skills when you feel so detracted.

I can't imagine how overwhelming all of this must feel two shocks in a such short time must have left you feeling so disoriented and stuck. Losing your father is such a deep pain, and I can only imagine how much the job situation has impacted you too. It makes sense that you'd be feeling stuck with everything weighing on you. It's okay to feel overwhelmed you don't have to fix everything at once. The pressure of the thesis on top of everything sounds really tough. Have you thought about tackling it bit by bit, just taking one little step at a time can help. I'm here to listen whenever you need to talk. I'm around if you ever want to talk more about any of this.

@DinaElwy I am so sorry for the things you have been through, from being unfairly dismissed from your job to losing your father. Understandable to feel overwhelmed and stuck. Grief and trauma are complicated to navigate. Take the time you need to heal; In your own time.
