Every night for the last week I have to listen to fireworks going off. All I can think of is someone shooting a gun. Even though I never been involved with gun violates I still fear that my abuser is the one shooting to get revenge and I am about to have a panic attack every night because of it.

Im totally the same way and was thinking as the 4th of July gets closer there will be a lot more. I might just have to buy some and confront it. The adrenaline will be pumping, but as they say.......

.......if we cant beat em', join em'😊

I hate fireworks. My trigger is alarms not explosions, but loud noises still send me into a panic and sensory overload. I enjoy fireworks aesthetically and will watch them on TV, but I hate the noise.

I completely understand why you would feel triggered by the sound of fireworks at night. Believe me, I know what thats like. I survived a mass gun violence event and found myself also triggered by the sound of fireworks. If I was up late and I heard the sound of a random firework in the distance or a loud noise from the freeway near by, I'd feel my heart sink and it would trigger my anxiety cycle of thought. Thankfully since then I've made progress with the help of my therapist. But one thing I found that used to help was I would go to sleep with ear plugs in. At first I bought the disposable kind for construction but then I invested in the kind for loud music called "hearos" they really helped at night. maybe they might work for you too?
