Unable to Communicate Emotions?

I was wondering if any body else has had trouble with opening up to people about their emotions? I know that's what I'm technically doing right now, but this thread is not a live conversation. If it were, that would really bother me. For instance, I tried talking to one of the listeners on here today, but in less than five minutes I completely shut down. I started shaking really bad and crying? For context, I was emotionally abused and neglected (among other things) at a certain point in my life that I don't really want to talk about here, at least right now. Am I the only one, though? I feel as though with as many people as there are on Earth, that's a really stupid question to ask, but I don't know anyone in my personal life that has PTSD like this. Help would be appreciated greatly. Thank you in advance.

Hi fluffyfantasy!

Wow, I relate to this sooo much! I felt like I was the only one who struggled with this too, and it always made me feel like such a mess. Thank you so much for sharing! ❤

I start crying too and sometimes find it difficult to breathe when talking about my emotions or things I'm going through. I think it's because I'm anticipating them to judge me negatively or not believe me :/ it's kind of frustrating sometimes wanting to get support but being held back by these powerful emotions

But anyway, I just want to make it clear that you are NOT alone 🤗 I hope we can both find a way to overcome this and get the support we deserve ❤

Thank you so much for letting me know that I am not alone in this! "I'm anticipating them to judge me negatively or not believe me," is infinitely true. You do not know how much I needed that relatability just to feel human again. I feel like I've been emotionally isolated for so long. 😅

Anyways, thank you again for your support! Best of luck to both of us!

I can relate I get voiced locked where I want to say something but my body won’t let me get it out. I’ve had people ask me what I’m feeling and usually I freeze up due to disconnect from my emotions.

The things that have helped me the most through my stuff is finding something to stay grounded and present, focusing on what I need, and journaling. I would say also look into Brene Brown’s work on vulnerability.

thank you for letting me sit with you. Be well.
