Am I overreacting?

Throughout my childhood I've been molested by guys that were older than me in my neighborhood and family members. Some even girls. One that hurt me the most was my step-grandfather. He would always touch my butt when I walk past and just feel on me. I didn't think anything of it.

Until one day he asked me to sit on his lap and give him a kiss. Me being a child I thought it was just an innocent affection towards me but then he stuck his tongue in my mouth. He kept forcing me to kiss him as I was trying to get him to let me go. I told my little brother and he told my mom.
My mom said I was lying and to go sit down somewhere. I left it alone after that and tried to tell myself he didn't mean to.But he tried to touch me again.

When he tried to touch me, I ran to my moms room and locked the door. He kept trying to get in. Mind you my mom and little brother weren't home. I was just at home with my big brother, who was sleep, in the other room.

I brought it up to my mother again when I was 16 and she just gave an excuse on why he did it. I am scared to get justice for myself because I believe no would believe me. If my own mother won't believe me, what makes me think someone else will.
I feel soo disgusted and ashamed that I hate myself. I feel like I could have prevented this . Men makes me very uncomfortable.

I don't know what guys intentions are and I don't trust them. I am 18 now and I can't escape it.

Hi. Well done for being brave enough to reach out and post is bothering you.

I'm sorry that you have been through all that and hurt the way that you have. It sounds like things have been really difficult for you. It must have difficult for you especially when your mom didn't believe you.

With everything that has happened I was just wondering how you cope with all that? How does it affect you day to day?

I get that you might no longer trust men, but I am a verified listener here and if you think it would help you please message me and we can chat, or indeed you could answer this post, whichever you think would be the most useful to you.

take care
paul

@Ashanti2001

hi.

first of all, I want you to know that sharing your story was something so incredibly brave of you to do and I am so proud of you.❤️ I know it must have been extremely difficult and traumatic to experience something like that and that the process of coping isn't easy either. What happened to you was unjust and no one has the right to do something like that to another human being, there is no excuse.

i need you to understand that what happened to you is NOT your fault. He did something terrible, and there is absolutely nothing that can justify what he did. I know that your mother not believing you must have brought additional burden to your already difficult experience and I am sorry that that was the case. You should have been heard and supported. I feel you. I am here for you if you wish to open up to someone about it.❤️

Not trusting men is another thing that is understandablly an outcome of such experience; after all, it is a coping mechanism. I understand where such concequence is coming from, and I would want to talk to you about it, if you ever feel comfortable enough. Though we cannot go back in time and change something that was done to us and something we haven't chosen, we can learn to eventually develop healthy habits of coming and overcoming something and staying strong through difficult times. You are not alone.❤️

Please do feel free to browse our listeners on 7 Cups, or to contact me personally. I will support you no matter what. You are incredibly strong and brave❤️
