Assault and sexual objectification
Hello,
I'm a virgin, never had a bf/gf and I was assaulted a few years ago. During this encounter I was really interested in emotional intimacy: I was trying to talk about my childhood and stuff. I wanted to have this person be interested in those things about me, value and care about me. Instead I was assaulted.
Now, I am working hard again on online dating and trying to start a relationship, potentially with someone I might want to lose my virginity with. However, I feel alienated by my peers and talk of sex as "pleasure" and "fun" when what I really want is to be valued and taken seriously as a person, so the words fun and pleasure hold a violence for me, because of my assault and the complete invalidation of my worth. Also as a virgin I feel like a complete outsider, and I feel there is no one else like me who wants these things or feels similar.
Feeling alone.

Well I for one think you are just fine as you are. Actually, you are really great. You are wanting such a rational thing. Someone to listen to you.To listen to your past, anything you want to talk about without being judged. I'm so proud of you for waiting for meaning to share your body with someone you love and has earned your trust.
You are not alone. You are respected.
It will happen one day. You will find the right person for you and that listens. It doesn’t matter that you are a virgin. Never be ashamed that you are or aren’t a virgin. As long as you stay true to you don’t compromise your beliefs. Good luck.
