Dreams about your rapist?

Has anyone had issues with having dreams about your rapist? I knew mine since I was in kindergarten. Sometimes I'll go through the usual "reliving" dreams or have dreams of him chasing/stalking me and not leaving me alone. But sometimes it's like he's my friend again and I have weird feelings of attraction towards him. It really throws me off. Does that ever go away? It's almost been 4 years and I still struggle with this. The ptsd is not nearly as bad as it used to be but these dreams still make me uncomfortable.

@SadKitty93 Hi Kitty, I believe that these dreams are a natural reaction, even though the event was a few years back now. Your subconscience will sometimes bring people up from your past, whether they had a positive impact on you or otherwise, and this will make you dream about them. This is not wrong at all and I want you to know that I sometimes have dreams about my abuser and each time I do, I have gotten stronger because I have managed to pick myself up and go to work and live. I am positive that you will do the same, no matter how long it takes. I am very happy to hear that your PTSD is less severe and I hope that your recovery remains peaceful.

All the best,

@LunaRose

Hi @LunaRose,

Thank you for your kind thoughts. Although these dreams bother me, they definitely don't affect me like they used to. I guess I just wish they would go away eventually.

I understand what you're talking about. I was molested as a child by our baby sitter, who happened to be a member of the military. It went on for two years. Ended in 1974. I still have dreams about him. The only difference between him & the two tapes as s teen I faced, I cannot see a face. It drives me up a wall.

The teen rapes were my boyfriend & best friend in college. Oddly, I don't dream of them or the rapes. I

do not know why?!?!

My PTSD has been off the charts lately.

Hi @Skye1965,

The mind is a mystery I guess. All we can do is try to move on and understand that some things don't really have a reason behind it happening. I hope you're doing better!

It haunts me every night and everyday, he was someone who was supposed to be my protector my parent the one who you think that will save you.. but deep down he was a monster hiding behind a mask, lurking and always watching my every move i was raped/molested since i was a baby until the age, of me understanding that it was wrong and started and saying no thats when the beatings started.My dreams are so real that i have woken up puking sick and screaming. I have a fear of whats under my bed, the light between the cracks of the door frames and never gotten over it i am now 27 and i dont think i will ever get over what has happened to me. But trying to cope is the hardest, where do you go when you have no control in what you dream.when does the fear and pain just evaporate from your mind
