My Sexual Abuse Story
When I was little, my Mom's friend would come over quite often and just hang out. He would watch me when my mom and brother had to go to an appointment or do something together. One day, when I was 8-9 He started to touch my thighs. As this progressed, I guess you could say I had been molested several times by a man who I felt like I didn't even know. Little did I know things would get much, much worse. When I was 12, he started to rape me. He raped me 6 times until he said he was sorry for everything. The only reason he stopped was because he got diagnosed with cancer and he ot really weak. I still see him, however and he always sits next to me and it's honestly one of the scariest thing ever to be around someone who did such horrid things to you.
Please don't judge, this is the first time I publiclysaid anything.
Didn't you tell anyone? No one is perfect out here. ..so no one has any right to judge you or anyone else. Anyway it was not your fault. That was really brave of you to speak up/write about it! I know it must have been very hard for you. .I hope you're doing alright now. ..
I'm so sorry to hear that. I want you to understand it is not your fault. there is not one thing you could have done to prevent this. look at yourself. you are stronger, smarter, and more beautiful than you have ever imagined. don't let this define you. define yourself. move on stronger and with more knowledge. you are loved
That took alot of courage to open up about it. You're truly a strong person. You did absolutely nothing wrong. You're definitely not alone with this. What happened was his fault....and no one else's. I hope other people going through something similar read this, and know that they're not alone. I hope you can find some sort of peace with this. Hugs....xoxo
I'm sorry that you had to go through that. I too know how it feels. Keep being strong, no one knows how much we struggle but us! ❤💙💚💜
I'd be surprised if you weren't filled withmixed feelings. Try and remember to try and temper your anger if you can. First, and foremost, it is you that is harmed by anger.
Allow yourself to grieve forall the things you've lost. Seek out help. Most of all, give yourself appropriate time, and be gentle with yourself. Treat yourself with love and kindness.
Your past, does not necessarily define you. It does not define your future. I have hope that you can be courageous and get by remember all these things. (It would be foolhardy to think you'd ever forget.)
First, it is as if these experiencesseem to be written in cement and are impossible to 'get over'. With some contemplation, and perhaps the proper help, these events are written in sand. Further on, as time passes and you grow as an individual, these things are like they are written in water.
Give your self time. Be gentle with yourself. Try and understand that when you get onyour path; you will stumble. We all do. Just see it as a time to reorient yourself and start over.
I wish you strength & courage.
Thank you for the cement sand water analogy..its definitely something to think about. Thanks!
I take no credit for the analogy ; it is from David Lynch. The artist and director has a foundation that treats Veterans suffering from PTSD.
HelloAGirlNamedCharlie,
First of all welcome in 7cups, where you can talk with no fear of being judged, most of the listeners here willlisten to you in a gentle and understanding way.
I would like to thank you for having come here and for having gotten the tremendous courage to share with us these extremely tough past events.
Maybe some people have already suggested you what I think is a good idea, to seek atherapist who could help you deal with your past (and your present too, as you still sometimes meet the person who abused you). If you met a therapist, YOU would be the one who would decide what to say and when. What doyou think about that idea?
Of course, whatever you decide, you always can come here and share about anything, whenever you want, with whoever you want, as you already know.
I wish you the so very best on your healing path, AGirlNamedCharlie. Please take great and gentle care.
Gilles
Listening to my friends hear someone's story broke my heart. They questioned it was real, completely neglecting the courage it took her to tell them. No one should ever be doubted. I believe you and you will be ok.
