Nightmares or Memories
Ive been having the most agonizing nightmares for a couple years now. Sometimes its really clearly a dream, and sometimes its just a vague feeling, but a lot of the time it feel SO REAL and it terrifies me because of all of the terrible things that are happening to me in these dreams. Theyre hyper realistic and Ive been questioning whether I remember them as memories or dreams. Sometimes Ill find things that support the story that theyre reall but that might be confirmation bias and Im just really scared because I dont want them to be real but I also dont want to think I imagined these things and if they are real then how the hell do I make it all stop and what do I do about the past I never knew I had
@RaspberryRiver Are you familiar with sleep paralysis? Also, what specifically causes you to fear that these experiences are real specifically?
@FilledWthMemesorUnresolvedTrauma
ive heard of sleep paralysis, not sure if I have it though. Honestly its a lot of small things combined, like when I have nightmares about getting lots and lots of tiny cuts (the dreams are usually vague feelings, like memories when youre high or with a fever or really sleepy) and Ill notice that I have a handful of small scars I never noticed, or having a dream about being hit by a car as a kid and having four nosebleeds the next day. Idk how any of this connects Im just scared
@RaspberryRiver
I've struggled with traua nightmares also - waking up in the middle of the night, usually at the same time, wondering whether it was real or not. In my case, I've always tried to "piece together" my memories in my dreams, which seems somewhat similar to what you've explained. Either way, you're not alone, I do hope the nightmares start to pass for you, I know how horrible they can be
