Struggling
I'm struggling right now. This is my first time treating my past with support.
i was sexually assaulted by a family member for 3 years. My family denies that this can be possible. The worst part is after the abuse ended I believe my brother became so ashamed he pushed me out of his life and continued to mistreat me until I had to stop that relationship. It was just purely toxic.
last week my dad died and we crossed paths for the first time in maybe 10 years and it was devistatingly horrible. This momnater not only continues his wrath but he has recruited the rest of my family the little that's left.
he has me completely alone. The sexual abuse was only the beginning of his plan of hatred and abuse.
I don't know how to cope right now.
Hello @Roffitto
I am so proud of you for opening up about this. It can be hard to come forward about sexual abuse, but you did. This shows how brave and strong you are <3 I am so sorry you had to go through that though. I am also sorry about what happened between you and your dad the last time you guys met, Please don't forget that you don't deserve to be treated this way. You deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. You are not alone. There are many people out there who have gone through similar trauma. I hope you are able to find them <3 While I have not ever gone through something like this, I am here for you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to a listener if you need tot alk about what happened. & Vups also has a self-help guide on working through trauma. Here is the link in case you want to chat it out: https://www.7cups.com/traumatic-experience-help/
@SnailPurple Thank you. This time is very dark for me.
Your note to me meant a lot, I hope through this forum I can't get my issues and thoughts expressed and worked out in a safe place.
i felt so ashamed for years I never could tell anyone. It was shocking when I did how they refused to believe it.
worse part of story is the abuser has my mother and sister brain washed.
i have been extricated from the family. I have been relegated to a corner only to be punished further for speaking up! I hear them now "shut up" or "that's not true" and yet they feel these actions which cause emotional reactions have no culpability to my mental breakdowns.
as my life continues it just gets sadder by the day.
@Roffitto
Hello very brave person. I understand what all that you have said. This is what usually happens and it is so sad. The person who suffers gets blamed and the abuser escapes. I understand how hard it must have been for you to be totally cut off from your family in addition to your main trauma of sexual abuse (That too by someone you must have trusted and could have never imagined something like that.) I must say you are too brave. And obviously you are awesome and there is no need to feel any kind of guilt or shame for whatever happned. You please be proud of yourself the way you coped with it all. I hope that now you have got love and respect in your life. A recent meeting with your abuser brought all memories back, it is good that you came here. If you need personalised support you might like to search for some listener. Browse for listeners who deal with such issues, read their bio and reviews and send them chat request asking them if they could talk on this. If you try with one listener and it does not seem to work it is ok. Please do not give up, look for another one. Sometimes it might take a while to find the suitable listener for your issue. Wishing you all the best brave soul.
