*Trigger Warning* I was Sexually Abused more than once, AMA
I was sexually abused more than 3 times by 3 different people. Have been in a process of walking through a journey of healing from all of the effects of those experiences the last few years.
What has been helping you cope with these situations? Do people in your immediate know about this occurences?
Added a trigger warning, by the way.
Things that have helped me cope withthese situations......I think having the support of a counsellor and having a couple of close really trusted people in my life that know that it has happened, has really helped. Just slowly processing what took place and the feelings and thoughts that go with that has also been good. Also being told truths to combat the lies I was told back when I was abused has helped immensly.
There are a few people that know...but of course its not something that is talked about a whole lot.
I can relate to you, I was also sexually abused by two people, one was a friend of the family, the other was family, and this happened to me for five years between the ages of 7-12. I have had a rough journey, my parents at first refused to listen to me, and told me it was my fault, and that I caused our family to fall apart. So, after that was over for 3 years now I am 15, going through the emotions, and about to send one of my abusers to jail soon. But I will never be 100% okay, neither will anyone else who is sexually abused or abused in any way.
Mintgreen it is sad to hear that you went through abuse as well...but at the same time, it's good to hear others stories, as it shows us as survivors that we are not alone. I think you are right in saying none of us will ever be 100% ok....there are always the memories and things like flashbacks that remind us....but at least we can begin to live as survivors and not just victims.
@Mintgreencookie
yeah I so feel that. I was abused as a child sexually and I'm almost 27 and I just can't be engaging in sex and if I do, it's more like I'm an object and it triggers me, I can't put any emotions in it as all I can think about is trying to not break down and cry... and I don't know , it's really wearing on my relationships... I feel so useless right now :( like I won't ever be normal..
@Claudia22
tw: ik it'ss been really hard i was only 5 years old when i was first sexually abused, it was for 6 years btw 5-11 years of age.it was a close family member and our driver and my neighbour, i felt so horrible when my own mother refused to accept me and i never spoke about it about that ..it's been years but i still get nightmares, i everyday hate how my body reponded to their touch and how they manipulated me to never speak about it.
i had a messed up childhood with my overprotective grandparents coz my parents also got separated when i was 5 and had been bullied to my new scl because my parents never attended my ptms and my abuser was also in the same scl for all those 6 years.. idk after that i had been through a male phobia and i don't feel comfortable arounds guys.
