Trigger Warning

I haven't ever told anyone something that happened to me when I was really young, and I feel like I need to tell somebody.

When I was about 6, my 16 year old brother exposed his naked, erected self to me and talked me into touching it.

That's all that happened and it only happened once, thankfully. But lately I have felt inhibited by that experience, and by the fact that no one knows.

My brother and I are now 57 and 47, and I can't imagine bringing it up in the family now. But it feels so unfair that that is still stuck on me somehow. Any advice?

Hello! How does it inhibit your current life? Maybe with feelings of shame and other uncomfortable emotions? It is important to talk and share these memories and have them validated and heard, and I think that is the first step to healing and getting them 'unstuck' from us. But not necessarily with family members, that doesn't necessarily help. Maybe with a good listener here, a counsellor or someone who is able to hear without judgement and validate your experience and the emotions you have carried from it. How does it feel now that you have told someone (in this post)?
