Coping Mechanisms?

May 20th, 2017

After a traumatic experience(s) involving bullying, one may experience a range of negative emotions, including feeling dejected, upset, disappointed, frustrated, confused, angry, and wronged.

One need not resort to employing negative behaviours, in order to cope. One may attempt to utilize healthier coping activities, to help to heal. These include: talking to supportive people, exercising, writing out your thoughts, support groups, creative activities (art, music, drama, etc.), leisure activities, etc.

What has been helpful to you, in order to cope with experiences with being bullied?

@IsabelleJ I think for some people becoming an advocate for those who are suffering bullying or who have done, can turn a very negative experience into one that can be empowering, not only for the person offering support but to the person receiving it. :)

Another helpful technique is to focus on those life passions and purposes which are important to you - things which you enjoy to do, are good at, and which you feel are your personal talents, and strengths. By concentrating on these, any negativity and harsh treatment towards you can be minimized.
