Forgiving My Fathers Murderer

When I was a child my father was murdered by my nephew's father & grandfather. It's been 14 years since my fathers passing. A simple picture or talk brings out some bad PTSD. All I want is closure & forgiveness. I want to be healed from that traumatic loss. I did miss out on a court day of my nephews fathers apology. I do have a way to get in contact with my nephews father. Is it best for me to get an in contact apology or should I forgive from a distance?

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear this! What a terrible thing to happen and a brave thing to be looking at forgiveness.

I'm not sure I can answer your question though, because that's up to you. There's also probably not a right or wrong answer because it's different for everyone.

Some people choose not to forgive and find closure that way, some people find closure through forgiveness, others find closure and not forgiveness and others neither! All of that is okay.

What feels right for you? ❤️

I think maybe I don't need to physically hear it but because I want/need that closure I should just finally take that step & let myself forgive him. Then I can move on & live my life without letting him/the situation effect me negatively anymore.
