umm so my dad passed away suddenly in his sleep at the end of august last year. there were absolutely no warning signs, it was completely unexpected so finding his body in the morning was horrifying. i think i might have PTSD as a result of it but my school aren’t taking me seriously and i don’t think there’s any way i can get any therapy. idk does anyone have advice?

@morganos

Hi !

I'm sorry for what you went through.

It's very sad.

PTSD tipically takes longer to develop.

The first effects of a traumatic event is Acute Stress Disorder.

You can read about the symptoms and nature of both:

Acute Stress Disorder: HERE

PTSD: HERE

Please let me know of any further concerns you might have, by answering this post.

I wish you all the best !

I understand, I had a similar experience myself. PTSD is very possible, and should be taken seriously. If you can't afford therapy, there may be free support groups. I've heard of support groups for dealing with the loss of a loved one specifically.

My dad had an accidental overdose when I was 9. I found him cold and blue at 11 in the morning. I waited until my mom came home nearly 6 hours later. I frequently went into his room trying to wake him up.
