When your body stays on alert even when everything seems okay
Sometimes the stressful situation is over, but your mind and body don’t seem to get the message.
You may notice that you’re more alert than usual, have trouble relaxing, overthink small situations, or feel uncomfortable when things are finally quiet. After spending a long time under stress, adjusting to calm can take time too.
Have you ever experienced this? What helps you feel grounded or safe when your mind has a hard time switching off?

When I cannot calm myself down, I sit down.
Take some deep breaths.
Close my eyes.
Listen to music, to stop the overthinking.
A long bubble bath and a cuppa helps too 🥰

Thank you for sharing, Amanda! 😊 I really like how you mentioned simple things like sitting down, breathing, and listening to music. Sometimes giving ourselves permission to slow down can make such a difference. A warm bath and a cuppa sound comforting too! Thank you for adding your experience to the conversation. 💙

Hi Rodriguez244,
I have experienced this, and usually, for me it's anxiety. When I cannot calm myself, I drink sleeping tea, use a pillow mist, wash my bed sheets the night before for the new fragrance, listen to calming music, close my eyes, imagine happy thoughts. None of them work all the time or every time, I just adjust when I feel the difference. It is much easier said than done.
Sending you all the warmth and lots of healing. ❤️☺️
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. 💙 I think you made an important point when you said that the same strategies may not work every time. Learning to notice what we need in a particular moment can be part of taking care of ourselves too. I also love how you’ve created little calming routines through music, comforting scents, and rest. Thank you for the kind wishes and for contributing to the conversation. 😊
