Safer Internet Day UK 2016
Yesterday, here in the UK we held our annual internet safety awareness event 'Safer Internet Day'. I feel that the issue of Cyber Bullying and keeping safe on the internet is absolutely vital. And as we are a virtual community, I wanted to address this.
7 Cups is a warm, loving, friendly and compassionate community for those seeking support, or looking to give an ear to those who are going through a difficult time. It's somewhere where we would least expect Cyber Bullying or stalking to occur. Whenever I log into my account, I feel as though I have been struck by a love bomb. However, I am always careful with the information I give out to those I am connecting with. I love the idea of making friends online, bonding with those who have similar interests, similar situations and similar thoughts and feelings to you. The whole concept of 7 Cups is too connect to someone who will really listen. The vast majority of our listeners are warm, loving and compassionate people and I really enjoy having the opportunity to connect with them and learning more about them. However, I do not know who is behind the screen. I do not know the information I am being given is the right path for me, linking in with the rule on giving advice and how it isn't always helpful. In addition, I do not know that the information I am being given is the truth.
So to make my point simple and clear in several steps:
- Never give out any personal information online (eg. Phone Number, Address, Social Media Handles, Full Name)
- Walk away from drama or conflict; If someone/something happening online is making you feel uncomfortable, tell a trusted adult. (eg. Teacher, Parent/Guardian, Charity)
- NEVER bully or upset others, as this is nasty and cruel and could end up getting you in very serious trouble.
- If you feel you are in immediate danger, contact your countries emergency services immedieatley.
Thank you for reading everyone, love you all <3 Remember Zip It, Block It, Flag it! #SaferInternetDay2016

Hey Simon!
Loving the name already! 🙂
Just a quick thank you to you for putting this together, caring for our community is what listening is all about, and you've really done a great job here!
I know what you mean when you say about logging in! There is no better feeling than knowing you have made someone day a little brighter just by chatting with them......it's priceless!
Take care Simon! 🙂
Hi Simon, It's Amazing how some countries take a proactive stand against Bullying. You are equally amazing for helping everyone here to understand about Cyber Bullying. Thank you very much.
This is awesome and I'm glad to see people are taking a stand against bullying and the like. Hopefully this is something that spreads across the globe.
