Desire for surrender — but my partner isn’t drawn to that role

Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because I’m navigating a personal longing that feels important to me, but isn’t easy to address in my relationship. I have a deep desire to surrender — not from weakness, but from trust, intimacy, and the feeling of being able to let go completely. The power dynamic itself brings me a sense of connection and release.
My partner is wonderful, but she doesn’t feel comfortable stepping into that dominant role. I fully respect her boundaries, but I’m wondering how to honor my own needs without creating distance. Are there ways to explore this together, gently?
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you approach the conversation? Are there couples who’ve found a shared path — or professional resources that helped? I’d truly appreciate any honest thoughts or experiences.

@SeekingHerLead

It's great that you are so respectful of your gf and her boundaries.

Because that's key.

It might help if you have an honest conversation with your gf, and just explain as you have here, why you desire this.

It might help to start small, and rest it through role play, to allow her to see if it's something she might be comfortable with 🩷🤗

@Amanda84

Thank you so much for your non-judgmental and understanding response—it really helped. Maybe I’ll actually try taking it one small step at a time.
