You go girl! I’m doing the same thing. Ready for a real life of my own!! Keep it up
I was feeling so good today, at 1:30 pm I got an email from my lawyer, from MY husbands lawyer, stating he has demanded court ordered reconciliation marriage therapy?! Fine, the state of Iowa allows one appointment, that I will do. This is starting to feel like bullying, I don’t want to see him in person, or even hear is voice. Let alone sit in the same room with him. I don’t know how to handle this. I will not react, I will maintain my composure, and be respectful, and keep an open mind. But really? This email stated he feels there is a good chance at repairing our marriage. Does my opinion matter? Nobody has asked me yet, I am after all 50/50 partner in what ever this is. I have never been a wife, I have been his mother, babysitter, housekeeper, money maker, arm candy, reprimander, punisher, 2 nd runner up to drugs and alcohol. Never a wife, or woman who has a right to be treated as such. He just wants me to say, yes honey, your the man , you make the rules and I will do my wifely duties without question. I’m not a piece of property, or his possession. Why can’t I make a grown up decision, I am turning 47 in 6 days. What is wrong with me? This is what I get for my birthday? To stay married to an alcoholic, diseased brain, and mind, this isn’t a man, this is a desperate, sinking in lies, attempt at keeping me as his pet. This is a grown up man-child, who can’t function on his own. I don’t want he his mother anymore. I choose emancipation….
@persistentWater9467 Good luck. I had a narc husband and a narc mom. Left him, working on leaving her. It's not easy work. Keep choosing you first!
I have a shoplifting mother, who has been doing since I was old enough to know it was wrong, I was a little kid, maybe 7 or 8? Now she is doing it with her only grand daughter, who just turned 14. What a wonderful, special bond?! I will not steal, I realized that nothing is worth doing that for. I would rather go into debt, which I have done, and filed bankruptcy, ruining my credit for a couple years. Wasn’t long before the good old credit card companies to start reaching out. Material things are fun to have, for a while, but it has no meaning or value. I have learned that the hard way. I have donated so much of my belongings to the local women’s shelter in my town. It feels so good too, it is also a weight off my shoulders.
Life is a rollercoaster ride, expect all turns and depths, but when you have right attitude with, courage to face the world, this journey become enjoying. Trust yourself like a captain of best ship. You have all power and skills to excel. Best wishes.
