I feel like a patient zero of sorts...
No matter how hard I search, there is no condition like mine, and I feel as if I'm the first. Here are the symptoms:
- Hatred/disgust at certain things (long nails, rings, anything small/tiny, etc.)if any of these things touch me or touch other things that I have to touch, I feel mentally scarred, distressed, disgusted, angry, etc.
- Whenever I touch something, I must touch it an even amount of times. (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20...) And sometimes I doubt my own memory of the amount of times I touched it, and proceed to wash my hands 10 times in a row (it MUST be 10) with painfully scorching hot water to get rid of the "scars" more effectively (I also do this when I touch one of the things I mentioned in the last symptom).
- I often have hyperfocal thoughts about these things that make me angry/disgusted most often at night, and lose around 7 hours of sleep every night because the damn thoughts won't go the *** away.
- If something I have deemed "unclean" touches a useful object (e.g. a doorknob) I use my foot/shoe to use it.
I have scoured the deepest pits of the web and nothings coming up about any of my symptoms. I think I am officially a patient zero. Please help.
What about OCD? Maybe you should consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis, my friend. I'm sorry you're suffering with this.
Hi!
You would need to consult a mental health professional for a real diagnosis, but from experience with friends, that sounds quite a bit like obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
I wish you a happy holiday season,
