My unhealthy habit
Hello all,
Hope everyone is getting by some way or another.
Kinda new to this but I wanted to open up and share about how my depression has lead me to develop an unhealthy habit of lying. Or as I now understand it to be Pathological Lying.
I had a rough childhood with an abusive parent and the other not in my life at all. This is where it stems from, I lied to avoid getting into trouble and after success in this it has then stayed with me throughout my life. I lied through school and it cost me my friendship group. I lied through relationships and it meant I never built a close relationship. I lied through jobs and it meant I never gained a feeling of belonging or any satisfaction in the job itself.
With all the lies it’s come to a head with my current relationship, and this is what has guided me here. I want to do better and change this habit for good. I don’t want to live a life where I’m constantly stressed and anxious about getting caught out when in a lie.
My current partner has been subject to many of my lies and it has almost ended our relationship numerous times, this time being no different I feel. I feel sick to my stomach with everything I have subjected her to, especially since she has been nothing but good to me.
So rather than rambling on for a millennium, I hope this is a turning point for me, all my lies have caught up with me and all my skeletons in the closet are laid bare.
I hope in this community I find the hope and help that I am looking for.
Thanks for reading if you get this far ❤️

Thank you for your honesty 💜
Youve been through alot, and I understand how lying became your crutch but it doesn't need to continue to be. Its costing you too much. Its important to talk to someone and get the help you need to stop this because ultimately you deserve to be happy and free of this 💕💜
Hi there,
Thank you so much for opening up and sharing with us. It takes a lot of courage to face your struggles and be this honest not just with others, but also with yourself.
It’s clear from your words that you have a strong desire to change. The fact that you recognize the pattern and want to break it is already a huge step forward. We all have things in our past that shaped how we cope, and it’s never easy to unlearn habits we developed to protect ourselves.
You’re not alone in this. Many people here are on similar journeys of healing and self-discovery. I hope you find the support and encouragement you’re looking for in this community. You deserve peace of mind, healthier relationships.
Wishing you strength and healing on this journey.🤍🤍🤍
