stress about school life
So, my mother passed away around 3-4 years ago, and to tell a long story short I got severely depressed, decided to do online school, I basically was still depressed throughout all of it and became really unmotivated. Earlier this year I was in 8th grade because I got bumped up, but I was too unmotivated to finish that either, now I really wanna go back to public school and with some life changes I really think I could do that. But I'm really stressed about it. I was born on January 2, 2009, so I would be 16 as of the start of next year, I want to have a regular high school life, so I wanted to reroll and quickly try and finish up 8th grade online close to the beginning of next year and then enroll in freshman year in my local public school, but my father doesn't really believe in me, and doesn't think it's possible, I'm not sure it is either but I really want to. I just want to be normal and have a regular social life like all my peers, and I wanna be able to finish high school regularly so I could go to university and become a therapist to help other people dealing with grief and depression, but I don't know. It's caused me to stress out so much and even now while I'm writing about this I'm crying and doing my best to stop. Needed a place to rant about this for a moment. Thanks for reading if you've got this far.
Hey there!
First off, I just wanna say I’m really sorry for everything you’ve been through. Losing someone close to you is like trying to carry a backpack full of bricks—except those bricks keep multiplying when you’re not looking. And that’s no easy weight to carry.❤️
About your school situation—I totally get why you’re stressed. Trying to catch up, especially when you’ve been feeling unmotivated, feels like trying to climb a mountain in flip-flops. But hey, guess what? Flip-flops can still get you up a hill if you’re determined enough. And you are determined. You’re already taking action by thinking about your future, even if it feels like a long shot right now.
And about your dad not believing in you? Classic dad move. They sometimes need more convincing than we’d like. But if you show him that you’re serious about making this happen, he’ll come around. I mean, come on—if you can survive the emotional rollercoaster of this situation, public school is basically a walk in the park.
You’re gonna get there, step by step. And hey, every time you feel like giving up, just remember—you’re not alone. A lot of us are rooting for you, even if we’re just some random people on the internet.
So, take a breath. You’ve got this. Just keep moving forward—one flip-flop step at a time. 💪💪❤️

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through so much, but I'm really glad to hear that you want to take steps for yourself! You're so brave for wanting to go back to a regular public school life, and honestly life in high school is going to be your best! As a Junior, I think that you'll thrive. When I did online school as a middle schooler, I was also very unmotivated because I also had some people and a childhood pet that I really cared about pass away, but when I went back to a public school my life started changing for the best. I made new friends, I started developing a personality, and I finally found my place in society when I felt like nobody cared. Being around more people was a coping mechanism that I never knew I needed till I experienced it. I really hope that your father can understand the benefits of public schools for you and I wish you the best of luck! I'm super proud of you for how far you've gotten. Put yourself out there and be confident! Your future is depending on you :)

Im sorry for your loss, I lost my mom the day before my senior year in 2016. It was a really really rough year for me especially living alone as my father had passed earlier. Don't let anyone tell you you can't accomplish something that you believe in. Put your heart into it and do the best that you can! Everything will turn out for the better in the end.
