Some thoughts on Support Chat 24/7

Some people here have been working hard to make sure that Support Chat is being used appropriately. I have seen a lot of effort from Moderators, Listeners, and even members in make this goal happen. So that's the positive.....

However, its is hard to support anyone when the room is packed with people and its moving at a rapid fire pace...this happens often. It's simply impossible to even see a percentage of what people are saying there. It's simply doesn't work.

Second, do members know how to support people in helpful way? Maybe people come in with very complicated or intense problems and I don't think many of us know how to really help. Some members do really try, but I also see alot of dismssive remarks or the standard "I'm sorry you feel that way". That's not good enough for someone in emotional distress.

So, I suggest we create 2 Support Chats and that will get rid of the overcrowding issue. My second suggestion is that we have a "guide" in each room to coach members on better ways of supporting each other. Mods are working hard on room safety but there needs to be level of coaching on proper support.

These are just my thoughts and I hope it is no seen through a lense of criticism.

@DangerMaus

You bring up a lot of good points. It sounds that as a newer person that this brings up a lot of good points that we don't think with all the crowding going on.
