I just downloaded 7 cups and don't really know what to expect. Would you mind sharing some of your experiences here and how you started/what were your first steps here? It seems a little bit complicated to me and I don't know what exactly to do.

@Johanna6 hey there! Welcome on 7cups! On 7cups, we definitly have a lot of tools so it may be overwelming to try to discover the site. if you have specific interests by a topic to seek support in, then join a subcommunity may be a great move, it has everything about the topic regrouped together : self help guides, chatroom, forum, listeners who are familiar with the topic, more resources, etc. I think it really depends on you and your needs right now if you prefer 1-on-1 chat, forums, group chat or work on your own (growth path, self help guides). I sure can guide you if you are seeking for a topic or anything, questions or other.

I joined a group chat for a little while and it was quite nice, the atmosphere was really friendly.
I have a specific question if you wouldn't mind: how do the people who made this app make their money? Everything seems to be free and I don't see advertising, which is a little confusing to me.
@Johanna6 of course its possible! Listeners are supposed be neutral. When you browse listeners you can choose a topic and also check the box for Verified Listeners. Those listeners passed a control and meet some higher quality standards.
Chatrooms are definitely very nice! I'm happy you joined them and enjoyed. Have you join a guided discussion yet?
For the matters of money, 7cups has two main features that they do the money from: therapy services, and personalized paths. So those features ar facultative but popular enough. So it allows to keep the other tools and resources free for those who can't afford. Listeners are always free as they are volunteer.
