I understand your concern on this topic. There is no single right answer, but I can tell you that committing suicide is definitely not one. Is there anything that makes you think you may have this disorder other than the fact that there are several people in your family who have it? By taking a test, would you eventually be ready to find out that you are one of them? If you feel that the result could upset you too much, then perhaps you should wait, at least for now, and continue with your life.

Huntington’s may run in families but you are not assured of having it. My friend’s family has several cases but not all of course. Suicide is something that is so sad when it happens. Please think about what you will do if you find you have it. If it’s destructive, you may not want to get a test.
